Wild Community Fundraisers:
Jackson Homesteaders Annual Roni Ride for Wildlife 2015
On a beautiful Saturday morning, a group of dedicated horse riders set out at Jackson Homesteaders for the Annual Roni’s Ride for Wildlife. The event is hosted by Laura and Colin Jackson and their two lovely little girls, Eileen and Gwen who provide a wonderful pancake breakfast prior to the ride. I’ve had the chance to meet Roni’s husband, Doug and he shared how Roni loved to come to the farm and ride just about everyday to be outside with nature – enjoying the ride and the wildlife. Roni fought four battles with cancer so getting outside doing what she loved was vital to her. WRSE is honoured to be the recipient of these funds in memory of Veronica (Roni) Irwin.
Roni had a gentle soul, quiet voice, and a ready smile. She was loved by all the horse boarders at the farm, her family, and the community. This ride is held annual to honour the memory of Roni who passed away from cancer in December 2004.
Over the past years this event, in memory of Roni, has raised over $40,000 for WRSE.
The 11th Annual Roni’s Ride was held on September 26th, 2015 and raised over $6200 for WRSE!
WRSE would like to thank Roni’s family, friends, Jackson Homesteaders, Laura, Colin, Eileen & Gwen Jackson, and all participants for their dedication and support.
